Changes For Northwest Passengers At Roanoke’s Airport
August 15, 2009 | Airlines Companies, Northwest Airlines
It’s time for those last minute vacation trips before school starts again.
Are you flying Northwest Airlines out of the Roanoke Regional Airport? Starting Tuesday, even if your plane ticket says Northwest, make sure to check-in at the Delta Airlines’ counter.
Delta and Northwest are still transitioning into one airline after merging in October. Over the next two years, the two companies will undergo what’s called “re-branding.”
All Northwest images and signs will be changed to Delta. A spokesperson for the airport says passengers should not be alarmed if they still hold a Northwest ticket.
“If you have a ticket on Northwest Airlines, it’s still good, and you can still book through Northwest Airlines, that part hasn’t changed, you’ll want to go to the Delta counter,” said Sherry Wallace.
The re-branding process is one step towards the two airlines’ official consolidation, which will be achieved once they are granted a single operating certificate.
The entire process is expected to be completed by 2010.
