Canada’s air transportation and accommodation industries are expected to stage slim recoveries this year, although the strong Canadian dollar will benefit the former while weighing on the latter, the Conference Board of Canada said Tuesday.
In the winter edition of its Canadian Industrial Outlook, the board said the air transportation sector will bounce back from a loss of more than $200-million in 2009 and post profits of $197-million in 2010.
Earnings in the accommodation sector, meanwhile, will begin to recover this year but remain relatively flat. They are forecast to come in at $465-million in 2010 from $470-million in 2009.
