Frontier Airlines Increase Flight Service between Denver and Aspen

August 18, 2010 | Filed under : Airline Flight, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines

Frontier Airlines will offer daily flights between Denver and Aspen began October 1, 2010. Flight services will be increased to four flights per day from December 16, 2010 until April 2011.

Frontier Airlines aviation services include Colorado, including Durango and Colorado Springs.

Bill Tomcich, president of Stay Aspen Snowmass said, “That means 41,000 seats or so from December to April that we thought might be lost have been recovered. ”

Meanwhile, United Airlines is adding a fourth daily flight from Chicago and a second daily flight from San Francisco to Aspen this winter, Aspen/Pitkin County Airport officials said Tuesday.

That should keep air service this season about even with last year, even though Delta Air Lines won’t be flying to Aspen this winter, Tomcich said.

Tomcich did not expect Frontier to keep flying to Aspen long term. However, a planned runway extension at the airport would allow airlines to carry more passengers and could attract more air service, he said.

Frontier Airlines Offering Cheap Airline Tickets to Celebrate Colorado Day

Frontier Airlines is celebrating Colorado Day because Denver is their base location that they operate out of. They are offering the lowest airfare tickets for the year going to Colorado. The sale is going on from August 1st and ends at 11:59 p.m. EDT on August 4, 2010. The prices are advertised as one way fares. If you aren’t traveling to Colorado, you still can find other discounted flights with their Duck Sale which has several flights starting at $29 one way and is on sale for the same days.

Frontier Airlines have been operating out of Colorado for over 16 years now, which is why they are offering discount airline tickets for the next couple of days. Denver is their largest hub that Frontier Airlines operates out of in United States. Colorado Day is celebrating its 134th anniversary of becoming a state.

Republic Airways Plans to Buy New Embraer 190 Regional Jets

Republic Airways Holdings Inc. said on Wednesday that it plans to buy 24 new Embraer 190 regional jets.

The letter of intent lacks final terms. The agreement calls for deliveries to begin in 2011, with the first six planes to arrive by the end of the year. The planes would be set up with 99 all-coach seats.

Republic also has the option to convert the order to the bigger Embraer 195, which has 116 seats. It said it would use the new planes to replace smaller regional jets.

In February, Republic said it would place a firm order for 40 of Bombardier Inc.’s new C-series jets valued at $3 billion. The new jet seats 100 to 140 passengers. Those planes are scheduled to be delivered to Republic in mid-2015. (more…)
