United Airlines Sees Passenger Revenue Rise

United Airlines is seeing passenger revenue rise faster than the rest of the airline industry, with business travel and other high-end fares picking up.
The carrier said on Tuesday that January passenger revenue for each mile it flew rose 10.5 percent. That gain is three times bigger than the airline industry as a whole.

U.S. Air Passenger Growth Slows in Sluggish Economy

U.S. airline passenger numbers will reach 1 billion in 2023, two years later than projected, because of slow economic growth, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The revision in the agency’s annual forecast follows an “unprecedented” drop in operations last year, when take-offs and landings fell 10.4 percent, said Nan Shellabarger, the agency’s director of aviation policy and plans.

American Airlines Steps Up Efforts To Woo JAL

American Airlines on Thursday stepped up efforts to save its partnership with Japan Airlines, the troubled carrier that is the lynchpin of its Asian network, by promising a $1.1bn investment to support the group.
The investment – much of which would be provided by US private equity group TPG – exceeds a rival offer from Delta Air Lines, which is trying to lure JAL away from Amercian’s OneWorld alliance.
Last month Delta and its SkyTeam partners offered to inject $500m of new equity into JAL and to extend another $500m in asset-backed financing and compensation for the cost of switching teams.

For the second month in a row now Singapore Airlines has managed to report an increase in passenger load factor, and means that the pick-up of demand may well and truly be here to stay.
Singapore Airlines has been struggling with its load factors for some time now, over the past year it, and many other airlines, have been dealing with lacklustre demand in the market.

Airlines Stock Reported : Airline Stocks Traded Higher, Gains On September

Airline stocks traded higher Monday, gaining as major U.S. carriers released their September traffic statistics.
At last check, the NYSE Arca Airline Index (XAL) added 1.2% to 27.25 points as all but one of its 13 components moved into the green. In the last 52 weeks, the benchmark index has moved in a range of 30.95 to 12.62 points.

Frontier Airlines New Owners Plan To Expand at Kansas City International Airport

Frontier Airlines emerged today from bankruptcy protection, providing a boost to its new owners’ plan to expand at Kansas City International Airport.
Denver-based Frontier is now a subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings Inc., which beat out a bid from Southwest Airlines Co. Republic also bought Midwest Airlines this summer.

Amex Sees Slow Recovery For Business-Class Airfare

Airlines can expect a modest recovery in premium airfares in 2010 as business travelers begin returning to the skies, American Express Co.’s business-travel unit said Wednesday. Light At End Of The Tunnel For Canadian Airlines

After suffering through one of its most grueling years in its history, there might finally be some light at the end of the tunnel for Canadian airlines.
Analysts were quick to react to better-than-expected traffic results for the month of August from Canadian carriers Thursday, saying they may indicate that the third quarter could prove to be the bottom not only to their declines in demand but also to the softness in pricing.
