Fall In Air Passengers Blamed On Poor Weather

A sharp fall in airline passenger figures last month has been blamed on bad weather and bank holiday disruption.

Airport chiefs expected a modest 3.5 per cent decrease compared with a year ago, after recent months showed the decline prompted by the economic downturn was slowing.

Commercial Airline Arrival Is Expected At SBIA

At San Bernardino International Airport, confidence abounds a deal to bring a commercial airline to the facility will be announced by the end of this year.

“We have it basically completed,” said Donald L. Rogers, SBIA’s interim executive director. “We have an expectation of commercial airline service at the end of the year.”

Alaska Airlines Begins San Jose-Austin Service

Alaska Airlines began nonstop service Wednesday between San Jose, Calif., and Austin, Texas.

The flight was to originate in Portland, Ore. The airline will add another daily flight between the three cities starting March 14, 2010.

The carrier said a Wi-Fi-equipped plane would be used on the new route, allowing passengers to access the Internet in flight. Read more

Flight Lands Without Incident Despite Problem with Flaps

Passengers and crew aboard a Northwest Airlines flight escaped injury Monday afternoon after the plane experienced problems with its flap while attempting to land at the Indianapolis International Airport.

Airport spokeswoman Susan Sullivan says Northwest flight 3991 from Washington, D.C. to Indianapolis landed as scheduled without incident. Read more
