Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air Launches Mobile Apps

Frequent travelers on Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air can now download mobile applications for the iPhone, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile smartphones. The free apps allow travelers to review flight schedules, check arrival and departure times, add mileage plan numbers, receive flight alerts and more.
The announcement comes a few weeks after Alaska Air said that it plans to bring Wi-Fi to its fleet of aircraft.
The Apple app store is filled with applications that allow travelers to access flight information, including the ability to check flight status.
Southwest Airlines also offers an iPhone app which provides some of the same functionality of the Alaska/Horizon app, though the Southwest version notifies customers when a fare alert is available on a selected route.
