Air Travel : Orlando’s Hotel Occupancy Up 5.1% For Week August

Orlando’s hotel occupancy rates for the week of Aug. 16-22 were 58.3 percent, a 5.1 percent increase from the year-ago period, according to Smith Travel Research, a hospitality industry research tracker.

Revenue per available room — the principal metric used for assessing hotel profitability — was $45.59, down 8.4 percent from the same period the year prior.

Nationally, revenue per available room dropped 16.7 percent to $57.84 percent for the week of Aug. 16, said the report. The national occupancy rate, meanwhile, fell 7.2 percent to 60.4 percent.
